CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Special Education Package for Flood-Affected Students

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a special education relief package for students in flood-affected districts of Punjab. This step has been taken to ease the financial burden on parents and to make sure that the education of young students is not disturbed by the destruction caused by floods.

One Semester Fee Waived

The Punjab government has waived one full semester fee for all students living in flood-affected areas. Admission Fees for First-Year Students

The Chief Minister also announced that admission fees for BS first-year students in these areas will be completely waived. This decision will make higher education more accessible to new students, especially those whose families cannot afford the cost of university enrollment after the disaster.

Special Education Package for Flood-Affected Students

Districts Covered Under the Package

The education package will benefit students from the following flood-affected districts:

  • Muzaffargarh
  • Multan
  • Lodhran
  • Vehari
  • Sialkot
  • Narowal
  • Gujrat
  • Chiniot
  • Kasur

In these areas, all first-year students will not have to pay their initial year fees.

Extension of Registration Dates

To give students more time, the government has also extended the university registration deadline by 20 days. This step ensures that no student misses their chance of admission due to delays caused by the floods.

Extension for Honhaar Scholarship Applications

The last date to apply for the Honhaar Scholarship Program has also been extended by one month. This scholarship is designed to support talented students, and the new deadline will help more students from disaster-hit regions to benefit from it.

Statement of the Chief Minister

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said:

“I will not let the education of our sons and daughters be affected by the flood disaster. We are working hard to make sure every affected student gets full support and the chance to continue their studies without interruption.”

She also added that the government is doing everything possible for the quick recovery of flood-hit areas and full compensation of losses.
